How It Works

How does funding a restaurant kitchen project work?

Funding a restaurant kitchen project usually follows five steps: gather quotes, apply online, share bank statements and project documents, compare offers, then sign so funds go to you or directly to the vendor. Prime Kitchen Capital helps restaurants get funded through our funding partners and explains each option before you commit.

Step 1: Scope the project and gather quotes

Start with written quotes, not estimates. Ask equipment dealers for itemized quotes with make, model, delivery and installation, and contractors for bids that list inclusions, exclusions, permits and schedule. Separate equipment, installed work and expected downtime so each can be matched to the right funding.

Not sure what to quote? Our guides to a kitchen remodel and a hood installation list the usual cost drivers.

Step 2: Apply online and share documents

Complete the short online application, then share recent business bank statements, owner ID and your quotes. Requirements vary by product and funder; many look at time in business, monthly revenue and credit. Larger requests may also need tax returns, financial statements, a lease copy or a list of existing obligations.

  • Short online application
  • Recent business bank statements
  • Driver's license for each owner
  • Equipment quotes or contractor bids
  • Lease or landlord consent for construction projects

Step 3: Compare offers and trade-offs

A funding specialist reviews your project with our funding partners and walks through the options that fit, such as equipment financing plus a term loan, or a line of credit for phases. Compare the payment, term, total cost and payment frequency, not just the amount.

See each structure on the funding solutions overview. It's fine to ask what happens if a quote changes or the project runs long before you sign.

Step 4: Sign, fund and install

After you accept an offer and sign, funds are sent to your business account or, for many equipment deals, directly to the dealer. Some approvals come within a day or two, depending on documents; larger build-outs and SBA loans take longer. Payments begin on the schedule in your agreement.

Coordinate delivery and installation dates with your contractor so equipment doesn't arrive before utilities and inspections are ready. When you're ready to start, apply online.

Frequently asked questions

Does the funder pay the equipment dealer directly?

In many equipment financing deals, yes, once documents are signed and the order is confirmed. Working capital and many term loans are usually deposited to your business account. Your offer explains how funds are disbursed.

Can I apply before choosing a contractor?

Yes. Applying early helps you understand options and plan the budget. Final amounts usually depend on firm quotes, so expect to share the chosen bid before funds are released for construction.

What if my quote changes after I sign?

Tell your funding contact right away. Depending on the product and funder, the amount may be adjusted, a separate request added, or the scope trimmed. Holding a contingency in your budget helps.

When do payments start?

Payments begin on the schedule in your agreement, which varies by product. Some start shortly after funding, and some equipment structures align with delivery. Confirm the first payment date before signing.
